Their Love Story

Jocelyn and Evan met in 2016 at Buffalo Wild Wings in Terre Haute through mutual friends. They dated off and on for three years before getting engaged in June of 2019. Jocelyn knew Evan was the one because he could always make her laugh through the darkest of times and when reflecting on their engagement, Jocelyn explained “the proposal did not go as planned. I had ruined every proposal opportunity that day.”

They went to Kings Island and Evan had asked what Jocelyn thought about a proposal there and let’s just say that Jocelyn wasn’t exactly fond of that idea…. Then they went to the aquarium because Jocelyn thought she had remembered seeing a sea turtle exhibit the last time she went. Evan, knowing she loves sea turtles, thought this would be the perfect opportunity. “We went and only saw one sea turtle. He asked where the exhibit was. Turns out the last time I went I just saw the same sea turtle over and over again. After we left the aquarium we went walking around and then he said ‘forget it’ and got down on one knee in the middle of a swamp.” (Just adding a note here that this is probably our favorite engagement story, haha!)

Their Wedding Day

Jocelyn and Evan’s wedding was on Halloween (her favorite holiday) and they had their guests dress up in costumes like a giant costume party. Their entire venue was decked out in amazing festive decor including skulls, pumpkins and wicked skeletons. Guests arrived in an array of costumes including a shark, scarecrow, vampires, a priest and nun, and tourists.

The bridal party had fun socks and Converse shoes - the bride’s shoes were stunning and fit her personality perfectly! Evan’s mom had a special gift waiting for him before the ceremony, which was absolutely adorable. You see, Evan had a stuffed dog, Fluffy, as a kid and that piece of memorabilia made a special appearance in a custom outfit just for Jocelyn and Evan’s big day.

Their sweet and simple ceremony was held outdoors with their closest family and friends in attendance. Fluffy had a spot in the front row and guests witnessed this union under perfect fall weather and a beautiful clear sky. After the ceremony, the bride and groom took a romantic carriage ride with Bob the horse around the grounds at Mallow Run.

The reception was exciting, to say the least! After heartfelt speeches by Rachel and Alex, the newlyweds cut their triple-flavored cake from Nosh Dessert Parlour, which was followed by a very interesting garter toss… just look at the photos for details on that. ;-)

The dance floor was never empty throughout the night! Jocelyn and Evan finished out their evening by celebrating on the patio around a fire with their closest friends.

Our Favorite Memory

Honestly, there were too many great moments to choose from as a highlight! Fluffy’s appearance was truly touching, the carriage ride was a unique element, and the garter toss was certainly memorable. It’s difficult to choose just one as our absolute favorite, but overall the Halloween theme is hands-down a once in a lifetime opportunity and something we’ll never forget. Being able to have their wedding on Jocelyn’s favorite holiday, having guests dress up in costumes and to see the venue with various Halloween decorations all during a full moon was just incredible!
