Their Love Story

Catelyn and Ben’s first date was at Pearl St. Pizzeria in mid December, but it was around Christmas time when Ben went home to North Carolina to visit his family when they really started talking. When reflecting on that early time in their relationship, Ben said “after a few days, I couldn't wait to get back to Indiana to go see Catelyn and spend time with her. I flew back into town, and I went to the store to get her some flowers and throughout the course of the day it started snowing and snowing and by the time she got off work we both decided that I should wait to the next day since it was pretty bad outside.”

They began spending a lot more time together and ended up going on a trip to Chicago in March. Catelyn recalled “that was the weekend that I think sealed the deal for both of us and knowing that he was the one for me.”

Ben proposed to Catelyn while they were vacationing on a cruise in the Bahamas.

“This was my first cruise and trying to decide where I was going to propose while Catelyn was with me the whole time was challenging. While going through security to get on the ship, my bag was flagged so they started going through it and I thought they were going to pull the ring box out of my bag and then I was going to have to propose right then and there!”

It wasn’t until day three of the cruise that Ben finally had the perfect opportunity to propose on the balcony of their room. “I wanted it to be an intimate moment and just be us two, so I proposed that morning. I was nervous but she said yes, and I was relieved that I didn't drop the ring off the balcony!”

“When he proposed I was so surprised. He had been dying to buy this new GoPro camera before the cruise and I was so confused of why he needed it so badly. Well, he ended up blogging the whole trip, and it was because he wanted to make a whole movie to document the trip and engagement. When he asked me to marry him, I thought that he was joking, and kept asking ‘is this for real?’ But it was perfect, and so intimate.”

Ben loves experiencing new things with Catelyn and traveling to places they haven’t been to together. “What I love about Catelyn is the way we get along when we're together, how we laugh together, and the way she makes me feel. I love how we're a team and build each other up! I love the way she laughs, the way she smiles, I love how she brightens my life!”

What Catelyn loves most about Ben is that he “is the calm to her crazy.” When thinking about Ben, Catelyn said “He lets me be me and just follows it up with a ‘you funny babe.’ He makes me feel at home when I am with him and the luckiest girl. We have so much fun when we are together. There are times that we will see something and look at each other and know we were both thinking the same thing. He pushes me to be a better person every day. He gives the best hugs and forehead kisses that just make the world seem alright. He also isn't terrible to look at ;) He is definitely one of the good ones!”

By the time of their wedding day, they had been together for three years and had been engaged for a year and a half.

Their Wedding

When asked what they were most excited for about their big day, Ben and Catelyn both agreed that they were most excited to finally be husband and wife. COVID did not make their wedding planning or engagement easy, but they persevered and were able to have a beautiful ceremony with absolutely perfect weather.

We were supposed to get married in January 2021 in Cancun, but COVID had other plans. I think that the biggest thing that we are looking forward too is getting to have this intimate ceremony with our closest friends and family. We will be spending our honeymoon in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We have never been to this part of Mexico before, and are so excited to just get to be on vacation!

Their wedding was the perfect mix of elegance and excellence. The ceremony was held outdoors with the sun shining and a slight breeze blowing. After the ceremony, the reception was filled with smiles, happy tears and laughter by their family and close friends.

Our Favorite Memory

Catelyn and Ben’s wedding really couldn’t have been more perfect. Everything from the venue, to the decorations, the food (check out The Local BBQ - you won’t be disappointed) and the weather all came together seamlessly to make a memorable and enjoyable day for everyone.

If we had to pick just one piece of this wedding as our favorite memory, it would be all of the smiles. Catelyn and Ben really have something special. There wasn’t a moment during the day that either of them weren’t smiling or laughing together and it was so wholesome to see the support and utter joy of their loved ones that came together to celebrate with them.
